A freestanding bath is designed to stand independently. A back-to-wall bath has a wall-facing side, while a corner bath is designed around two adjoining walls.
Start with the position of the bath in your actual room, then compare the dimensions of specific models. The type name alone does not tell you whether a bath will fit, where the spout should go or how much access will remain around it.
Back-to-wall describes the bath's relationship to the wall behind it. It does not automatically mean that the bath should fill the room from one side wall to the other.
Check the selected model's drawing against the finished room dimensions, including the ends of the bath, the spout and access around the bath. Have your installer confirm the proposed arrangement before you commit to it.
Not necessarily. A corner layout may suit the available walls, but you still need to compare the actual length, width and orientation of the bath.
Draw the bath on the room plan alongside the vanity, toilet, shower and door opening. Choose the model that works with those real constraints rather than assuming that a particular type is always more space-efficient.

Measure the space the bath will occupy after the wall and floor finishes are complete. Compare that space with the selected bath's external length, width and height, not just a nominal size such as 1500 mm.
Also mark the bath position, waste location, spout and access around the bath on your plan. If the room is still being built, ask your installer to confirm the expected finished dimensions before ordering.
No. The external dimensions describe the space the bath occupies. The internal shape, rim and sloping ends affect the space available inside.
Compare the specific model's drawing and internal dimensions where provided. Do not infer usable bathing space or water capacity from the external length alone. If comfort is a priority, ask which models you can view in the showroom.
Use the selected product's orientation drawing. Do not rely on the words left-hand or right-hand without checking the viewpoint used in that drawing.
Mark the two wall-facing sides, the open side, the spout and the waste on your room plan, then compare that plan with the exact variant you intend to order. Send us your marked plan if the orientation is unclear.

Choose the specific bath and spout, then check their dimensions together before the plumbing position is fixed inside the wall.
The key checks are the bath's final installed height, finished wall thickness, spout height, projection or reach, where the water will land and the clearance needed between the spout and bath. Give the product drawings and proposed positions to your installer for site confirmation.
No. Being above the rim is only one part of the relationship. The spout also needs suitable reach, a suitable water landing point and enough clearance once the tiles and bath are installed.
There is no single height or projection that we can apply to every bath and spout combination. Check the actual products together and have your installer confirm the finished arrangement.
It is better to coordinate the bath and spout before rough-in. If the plumbing is already fixed, compare potential baths against those existing positions before buying.
A bath cannot simply be trimmed to compensate for a mismatch in the way some timber joinery can. An unsuitable height, reach or water landing point may mean reworking the plumbing or finished surfaces. The supplier provides product dimensions; your installer must check how they work on site.

The side wall or the end of the bath can be useful places to consider a niche for toiletries, soap and other small items used while bathing.
Choose the position as part of the whole bath layout. It needs to work with the spout, access from the bath, the wall construction and the overall wall composition, rather than being added as an isolated detail.
If a wall already has additional depth because of the layout, services or a design feature, part of that space may be worth considering for storage.
Extra depth does not automatically make it suitable for a niche. Your project team still needs to check what is inside the wall, how the niche will be constructed and waterproofed, and whether it conflicts with the bath plumbing.
Plan them together before the wall plumbing and finishes are fixed. Mark the bath, spout and proposed niche on the same drawing.
This lets your installer check the in-wall pipes and waterproofing details, while you check how the niche and spout will look and work together. Do not cut into a finished wall on the assumption that an empty space is available behind it.

Confirm the exact model, size, finish and orientation, then check its current drawing and product description. Check the waste position, overflow specification and listed inclusions rather than assuming they are the same across the range.
Ask us about any detail that is unclear, including waste fittings, support details or warranty terms. Your installer should separately confirm that the selected product and its installation requirements work with your site.
Check the delivery route into the property and bathroom, including doorways, stairs and tight turns. Confirm the bath and packaging dimensions where access is constrained.
Contact us about stock, delivery options, cost and timing for the exact model and destination, or confirm pickup arrangements before travelling. Do not base your installation schedule on an assumed delivery date.
Contact OZBathroom to confirm which bath models and finishes are currently on display at our Melbourne showroom. A visit can help you compare their shape, finish and proportions.
Bring your room plan, finished dimensions and any bath spout drawing you already have. Showroom guidance helps with product selection, but does not replace your installer's checks of plumbing, waterproofing and the actual site.
